Education
Monkshill Farm provides excellent practical learning opportunities and vocational training for many young learners on a real working farm. We also provide hospitality and catering training in our student refectory.
Learners who access Monkshill Farm come from many different local schools, colleges, specialist schools and organisations.
We provide a learning environment that all learners can access ranging from enrichment placements for disabled children/adults to supporting, enhancing or delivering higher education/vocational training.
The farmyard houses pigs, goats, small animals, chickens, alpacas, cattle and an aviary.
Learning activities include feeding a variety of animals, lambing, egg collecting, “mucking out” animal pens and housing, shearing sheep, halter training calves together with handling, exercising and grooming.
Many of our learners can also become members of the Young Farmers Club where they can meet other young farmers and participate in the Kent County Show.
Education
The refectory provides a fully equipped catering kitchen, serving and dining area.
Learning activities include preparation and service of hot and cold lunches, catering for events, cake making, retail experience, food and hygiene and health & safety training.
Our aim is to promote and develop our learners’ independence, their personal responsibility and to create a sense of achievement with the ability to work safely and as part of a team.
We are committed to providing equal opportunities for all levels of learners in a positive learning environment which enhances self esteem, social vocational and life skills
